The Monsignor Patrick Anthony Folk Research Centre Hosts Miss Teen Saint Lucia Pageant Participants
On Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at 10 a.m., seven (7) contestants in the Miss Teen Saint Lucia Pageant, accompanied by their chaperones, visited the Monsignor Patrick Anthony Folk Research Centre (FRC) for a historical and cultural tour. The visit was held in observance of this year’s pageant theme, “Empowered Voices: Celebrating Our Cultural Mosaic.”
The participants were introduced to various aspects of Saint Lucia’s rich history and cultural heritage, and gained insight into the FRC’s role in preserving this legacy. They also learned about the Centre’s operations and the significance of its contributions to Saint Lucian society.
The enthusiasm of the contestants was clearly evident. They actively engaged with the exhibits, showing particular interest in Saint Lucia’s national wear and the names and traditional uses of the artefacts on display. Some even performed short skits drawn from their upcoming presentations, incorporating elements they had just discovered during the tour.
The visit proved to be a truly enriching educational experience. The participants’ excitement and engagement were strong indicators of the willingness of Saint Lucian youth to embrace their cultural identity—once given the opportunity to explore it.
