The FRC continues to promote our cultural heritage, with the celebration of Mwa Éwitaj Kwéyòl (Creole Heritage Month) 2023. Three communities were selected to host the year’s activities.
In that historic year, where the FRC celebrated 50 years as a movement, and 40 years since the first celebration of Jounen Kwéyòl, we announced the 2023’s Host Communities for Mwa Éwitaj Kwéyòl (Creole Heritage Month). The communities selected to host the year’s activities were Canaries, Soufriere, and Mabouya Valley (Dennery), with the main highlight being the Jounen Kwéyòl on October 29, 2023. A number of other communities hosted fringe activities throughout the month of October 2023. The FRC hoped to engage both the public and private sectors, in an attempt to encourage a prolific display of national wear and music, throughout the month.
