The need for the Folk Research Centre to digitize their information collection and to make them available online cannot be over emphasized. One only has to remember the fateful morning of March 25, 2018, when the FRC’s entire collection went up in flames. These unique and rare resources will never be replaced; thus the mistakes of the past, when very few of FRC’s cultural resources were held as electronic records, must not be repeated.
Due to the very special nature of these materials, it was, therefore, necessary for the FRC to begin taking steps to digitize its holdings to preserve the originals to the best of its ability, in order to insure that our users will be exposed to the wealth of information in special collections on the culture and traditions of Saint Lucia.
More information will be provided on the status of this project as we progress.
